Faience Jardiniere

Blois, France
c. 1904
#0479

Decorated and marked by Ulysse Bresnard. Besnard’s work in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s was inspired by the designs of the French Renaissance. This jardiniere (a decorative planter) features winged dragons on the handles, and dragons and swans on the elegantly shaped body.  At Locust Grove, this seems to have always been appreciated for its beauty, and not actually filled with earth and plants!
