What treasures are hiding in YOUR closet? Join us and find out!

The Antique Appraiser’s Road Show is coming to Locust Grove on Sunday, April 14th, 2024. It’s time to ransack your attics and closets and wheel your treasures to Locust Grove Estate in Poughkeepsie, NY for our annual Antiques Appraisal Day! Robert Meringolo and his team of merry appraisers will return to Locust Grove to tell you how much your treasures are worth!  Baseball cards, records, small works of art, jewelry, watches, coins, toys... you bring it, they will appraise it, even Great Aunt Hilda’s silver tea service!

Antique Appraiser’s Road Show is an Albany-based group of expert appraisers of art, antiques, and collectibles, several of whom have worked with international auction houses. Owner Robert Meringolo lives in Albany but spends his winters in Palermo, Italy, where local flea market visits have turned up some wonderful surprises! He is looking forward to his third appearance at Locust Grove’s Appraisal Day. “We always love coming to Locust Grove!” Last year he and his merry band of experts appraised some very valuable finds like a Derek Jeter signed sports jersey and old coins worth more than the owner expected.

Meringolo recently recounted, “One day I received a phone call from a woman in Colorado, asking me about a painting she had, which had been signed by Rockwell Kent, the noted artist from AuSable Chasm, right here in New York State. The woman wanted to know if the painting was an original and if it had any value. I asked her to send me a photo of the painting and the artist's signature, thinking the artwork was probably just a print. I was happily surprised to find that it was an original titled “Moonlight Sleighride.” So, during the height of the COVID pandemic, I boarded a plane to Colorado. The owner told me she had stored the painting in her closet for over 40 years. It had been given to her as a thank-you gift for taking care of an elderly friend. The painting sold for several thousands of dollars, much to the delight of the owner.”

Will you have the next lucky find?

Antiques Appraisal Day 2024 offers all ticket holders the opportunity to have their treasures verbally valued. All proceeds from the day go directly to Locust Grove.

What does “Timed Ticket Entry” mean?

A timed ticket means we allow 15 ticket holders to enter every half hour from 10 AM to 4 PM. You will select your entry time when you purchase your ticket. You will “share” the same entry time with up to 14 other customers, so you will have to wait in a seated queue once inside the gallery. There may be a couple of customers from the preceding time slot ahead of you in the queue when you arrive. Timed tickets allow us to manage the flow of guests AND guarantee that you will have your pieces appraised that day. Thank you for your patience and for supporting Locust Grove!

Ticket holders must stay with their goods at all times. Locust Grove is not responsible for any loss or damage to participants’ goods.
