Hours and Fees

Locust Grove's buildings and grounds will be closed to the public during the current public health emergency to keep our visitors and staff safe. We plan to re-open our grounds on April 15th, and our buildings on May 1st but please check this website or social media for updates.

Locust Grove Visitor Center

Open 10am – 5pm weekdays from January – February, and every day March– December.

Locust Grove Mansion Tours: (Mansion open by guided tour only)

May 1 – October 31, Guided tours offered daily at 10:15, 11:30, 12:45, 2pm, 3:15pm

April, November and December, Guided tours offered on weekends and December 26-31 at 10:15, 11:30, 12:45, 2pm, 3:15pm

Tour fee: $12 Adults, $6 Youths (6-18)

Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more.

Locust Grove Gardens & Grounds

8:00 am to dusk, year-round

Visitor Center & Mansion closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and Easter. Hours subject to change, call (845) 454-4500 for further information.

Interested in prom, wedding, or family photos? Make sure to purchase a permit before you arrive.

Locust Lawn Farm and Terwilliger House

Please observe the following rules when visiting Locust Grove:

Locust Grove’s grounds and hiking trails are open daily from 8AM until dusk.

Please keep pets leashed, and remove waste.

Do not collect plants, flowers, wildlife, or artifacts.

Picnic in designated area only, remove all litter.

No alcoholic beverages are permitted.

No motorized vehicles or bicycles are permitted.

No hunting, shooting or fishing are permitted.

No sunbathing or sports are permitted.

No fires or barbecues are permitted.

Use the grounds at your own risk, hike in pairs.


Visitor Center and Grounds

Handicapped parking is on a level paved surface less than 100 feet from the Visitor Center.

An accessible restroom is available at the Visitor Center.

A level, 300-foot gravel path connects the Visitor Center to the mansion. Level gravel paths wind through the gardens.


There is no wheelchair access to the mansion. There are seven steps up to the front door, seventeen steps from the main floor to the second floor, and ten steps from the main floor to the ground floor.
