A century ago, William and Martha Young employed a staff of six gardeners to maintain the grounds at Locust Grove. Today a dedicated staff of volunteers keeps the grounds in pristine condition for the enjoyment of more than 60,000 annual visitors. Under the guidance of the Director of Horticulture, more than 50 volunteers work the greenhouse, kitchen gardens, and perennial flower gardens. No experience is necessary to volunteer though you should be in good physical condition. The expert horticulture staff provides training each day that you can apply to your own garden at home, and volunteers can also take home extra plants and garden produce. For more information about volunteering, contact the Director of Horticulture at 845-454-4500 x 216, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
