Concert Series
Sunday Afternoons (1 to 3 pm)

Bua
Celtic music by one of
America’s premier
traditional Irish music
ensembles.
It
is no surprise that Bua,
lending to its Irish Gaelic
meaning of ‘innate gift,’
has quickly risen to the
status of America’s premier
traditional Irish music
ensemble. A quintet
comprised of some of
America’s most talented,
young musicians with
Jackie Moran on bodhran,
banjo and vocals, Chris
Bain on fiddle,
Seán Gavin on
uilleann pipes and flute,
Brían Ó hAirt vocals,
concertina and tin whistle
and Brian Miller on
guitar, flute and vocals. Chicago
is home to Bua as it
was to the great Chief
Francis O’Neill (1848-1936),
an Irishman of unprecedented
dedication, whose
groundbreaking collection of
Irish traditional melodies
marked an unprecedented
harvest of music from the
immigrant masses who came
from all corners of Ireland
to make a living in one of
America’s largest urban
centers. Bua owes
much of their musical roots
to O’Neill’s work and their
new recording An
Spealadóir: the Harvester
draws from more than a
century’s worth of Irish
traditional music and song
cultivated in the midwest
and Ireland.

Soñando
The hot Latin sounds of
Soñando have earned them
the reputation as the Hudson
Valley's premier Latin band.
This spicy blend of music
and musicians have performed
in clubs, at private
functions, community
festivals, benefit concerts,
on radio and television, as
well as the Puerto Rico Day
Parade in NYC, but the band
is at home wherever a dance
floor can be cleared. Fueled
by a fiery rhythm section
and high-octane horns,
Soñando plays a wide variety
of Latin styles from Plena
and Son to Salsa and
Merengue! “The name of the
band is Spanish for
"dreaming" but when the
hordes come out for Soñando,
they don't sleepwalk-they
dance. And we're not talking
a few perfunctory head-bobs
or butt-wiggles, they dance
until they go up in flames
like, Tula's unquenchable
bedroom in the Cuban lyrics
above." -Woodstock Times.
